September 14, 2025 | Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis | Final Score: Colts 29, Broncos 28 | CBS
Spencer Shrader’s 60-yard field goal attempt with no time remaining fell short and wide right. Then a flag hit the turf — leverage on Dondrea Tillman, who had vaulted illegally over a teammate to block the kick. Fifteen yards closer, Shrader stepped back up from 45 yards and put it through clean. Indianapolis 29, Denver 28.
The Colts won their Week 2 game of the 2025 NFL season at Lucas Oil Stadium to move to 2-0, their best start since 2009. Indianapolis outgained Denver 473 yards to 324, controlled possession for more than 32 minutes, and turned the ball over zero times. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 165 yards on 25 carries and caught a touchdown pass, recording his 25th career 100-yard game to break a tie with Eric Dickerson for the second-most in Colts franchise history. Daniel Jones completed 23 of 34 passes for 316 yards without an interception — his first 300-yard game since September 17, 2023, with the New York Giants. Denver fell to 1-1.
Bo Nix went 22 of 30 for 206 yards and threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half, but threw no touchdowns after the break and was intercepted by Cam Bynum on an overthrow intended for Courtland Sutton near the Indianapolis end zone in the fourth quarter, ending the Broncos’ last scoring opportunity. Wil Lutz’s 42-yard field goal struck the right upright with 3:15 to play, holding Denver’s lead at two points instead of five and leaving the door open for the Colts to drive for the winning score.

Bynum’s interception came in the fourth quarter on a Bo Nix pass intended for Courtland Sutton inside the Indianapolis 10-yard line. The throw was high and outside; Bynum stepped in front of it, returned none of the yards, and ended what had been Denver’s best chance to stretch the lead to a multi-possession margin.

Shrader’s field goals (chronological): 29 yds, 33 yds, 36 yds, 28 yds, 45 yds. He also attempted a 60-yarder as time expired — the kick came up short and right, but a leverage penalty on Dondrea Tillman wiped the result and moved the ball 15 yards forward. Shrader converted the re-kick from 45 yards. He was 9-for-9 on field goal attempts for the 2025 season through two weeks.
Lutz: His 42-yard attempt hit the right upright with 3:15 remaining in the fourth quarter. Denver led 28-26 at the time.

Indianapolis did not punt. It was the second consecutive game the Colts had gone without one, the first time any team had done that in the opening two games of a season since the Super Bowl era began.

Indianapolis finished with 149 more total yards than Denver, held the ball for more than four additional minutes, went without a turnover, and still needed a penalty reprieve on the final play to win. The Colts converted only 2 of 6 red zone trips against Denver’s perfect 3-for-3, a disparity that nearly cancelled out every other statistical advantage Indianapolis held on the afternoon.
With the win, Indianapolis moved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2009 season. Denver dropped to 1-1 and 0-1 on the road, extending Sean Payton’s winless stretch in road season openers back to 2018. The Broncos traveled to Los Angeles to face the Chargers in Week 3; the Colts played their first away game of the year at Tennessee.
